It's Back! Big, Bold and Beautiful Trimming

Emerald Green Tassel Fringe ala Meg Braff - Charming
I have always considered trimming to be like that gorgeous statement piece of jewelry: It turns heads, elevates a little black dress (or a beige sofa) to high style and elicits compliments and envy among fellow fashionistas. The good news for my fellow trimming fans is that it is back!
I recently attended an event at the Washington Design Center where Mr. John Hoshko, the Sales Manager for the famed passementerie house, Samuel & Sons’, shared the latest trimming trends. Mr. Hoshko revealed that wide tape and fringe - especially bullion - have returned in a big way and the tieback has made a resurgence. The colors are crisper and clearer and bolder. Music to my ears.
Mr. Hoshko’s observations echoed what many are saying in the interior design world - that maximalism and color are starting to give clean, white minimalism a run for the money. In celebration of this good news, I am sharing some of my favorite trimmed design elements. Not to worry, this is not your grandmother’s fringe. It is fresh and modern and fabulous.
Designer Tip:
And remember, if custom work is not in your budget, you can try adding a beautiful trimming to an off-the-shelf drapery panel or table skirt. It will elevate the style and customize your pieces on a budget.
Enjoy!
